Wiltshire Horn Sheep

The Wiltshire Horn Sheep was exported to Australia in the 1950's and again in the 1970's. They are currently attracting attention for their lack of wool and the need for shearing, as well as their ability to pass on their vitality and quality meat in a cross-breeding program.

    About Our Lamb Stud

All our lambs are born and bred on our properties and comply with the new sheep identification scheme.
Our lambs are grown using the same management practices as our cattle.
The breed is purely a meat sheep. They do not require shearing, tail docking or crutching. Tlhey are great lawnmowers for small allotments or as terminal sires/breeders in large commercial operations.
Our flock is guarded from foxes by two Alpaca's: Gryffindor and Bogart and they do a great job!

Please feel free to contact us here to register your interest and to reserve animals.

  • Poll Dorset and Suffolk X Lambs now available

We now have lambs available direct from our neighbour. The lambs are all paddock reared on the Jack River Flats and are produced for their superior eating qualities rather than ability to grow wool.

These breeds of lamb are usually destined for the export market, top quality restaurants or butchers shops who are very discerning about the products they sell. Most lamb sold in Melbourne is a Merino cross. There is no comparison in tenderness and flavour between a Merino cross and a poll dorset or suffolk X lamb. These lambs are English meat producing breeds and they are guaranteed to please the whole family.

PLEASE NOTE we are purchasing these lambs from another farmer who uses similar growing practices to ourselves. It is also important to note that we will be paying him a fair price for his animals and his hard work. That is, a price that he is happy with so that he can remain sustainable in the long term. We will deal with any supplier fairly, and exactly the same way we would like others to deal with us. The price he receives from us will not only be a stable one, but always much greater than he would receive if he dealt with the supermarkets, abbattoirs or saleyards. By doing business this way the farmer will always supply us with the best possible product available. We are only able to offer a limited supply of this delicious lamb.

Once you taste this lamb you will want more - we guarantee it!
